Meet Our Intern!
Hi! My name is Mollie Griesedieck, and I am an incoming junior at the University of Notre Dame. I am studying marketing within the Mendoza College of Business, and, as any business student can testify, internships have been hard to come by these days due to the effects of the pandemic. With jobs and summer abroad trips getting cancelled left and right, college students like myself have felt a bit lost, and even hopeless, this past year. However, I was lucky enough to come into contact with Sam Conway and Clever Hawk Branding and was honestly surprised by how enthusiastically she spoke about having an intern; I was ecstatic to accept a summer position with her, and my experience thus far has proven that conflicts can lead you to exactly where you’re meant to be.
So, if you’re a potential employer of undergrad college kids, let me let you in on our secret: We don’t know what we are doing. We know what we are majoring in, but we have very little or no experience in that field, so we are just looking for a way to figure out what parts of that major we like, and what parts we do not necessarily “gel with”. With Clever Hawk, Sam constantly gives me a large variety of projects in many different areas of marketing. Because her clientele is diverse, everyone has different needs; One of the biggest things I have learned through the job is that the best branding ideas and advice comes from a personal connection and individualized service.
Obviously, social media is an extremely and increasingly essential means of communication for businesses and brands in every field. In Clever Hawk’s multi-client system, I flexed different marketing muscles by using and researching into different graphic design and social media template platforms. Also, I was involved in real-time decisions-ones that someone with the title of “intern” would not normally expect to be involved in. I organized and selected color palettes for upcoming brands, and even was tasked with writing blog posts for company websites, which is something I have found that I really enjoy!
To sum up, I have really grown in my communication, technical, and interpersonal skills in just the past few weeks, and I have my internship with Clever Hawk to thank for a majority of that. In a time where so many people are struggling in their career development, I cannot express how grateful I am (and continue to be) for this opportunity to learn what I want to do with my life!
