Puppy Power

Last month my husband and I took the leap into fur-parenting and adopted a golden retriever puppy that we named Griffin. Needless to say, I have had full blown puppy fever. I partake countless photos, TikToks, and cuddle sessions, to the point that it’s hard to do much of anything else.

It’s not my fault. According to Psychology Today, “babyness” is the phenomenon in which people instantly feel love and care when they see puppies, kittens, infants – anything baby like. We just can’t help ourselves! Puppies have been used in advertising since the early days, to appeal to our love of babyness.

Using cute dogs isn’t limited to just dog related brands. Here are some of my favorite puppy ads from over the years.

So, the next time you sit down to plan your next campaign, think of creative ways to weave in a puppy. It doesn’t even have to make sense. People will just melt when they see that little ball of fur. And if they don’t, well then you probably don’t want those people as customers anyway.

If anyone is in need of a puppy model, Griffin is available. Well, at least for a little while since he is growing like a weed and will be full grown much too soon!
