Super Super Bowl Commercials.

When it comes to enhancing your brand, nothing beats a Super Bowl commercial spot. Just drop $5.5 million, and your brand is front and center to roughly one hundred million viewers, minus however many take a potty break during your 30 seconds of fame. But some brands capitalize on this once-a-year opportunity better than others. So, I’m breaking down my top five favorite commercials of Super Bowl LV and the brands that got their money’s worth!

#5 – Reddit

You might have missed it because they only paid for five seconds of airtime. That’s right! They claimed, “underdogs can accomplish just about anything” and spent their entire marketing budget for a portion of a commercial spot in a handful of cities. Now they are getting a ton of attention for their dig on Wall Street and creative marketing. I say kudos for this ballsy move!

#4 – Toyota

I hope you had your tissues handy for this tearjerker featuring Paralympic swimmer Jessica Long. There are many ways a brand can capture the attention of viewers and pulling on their heartstrings is an effective one. Their message was powerful! “We believe there is hope and strength in all of us.”

#3 – Paramount Plus

Another way to stand out – pack in the star power. Paramount’s new streaming service featured everyone from Beavis and Butthead to Snookie, throughout their four commercial spots. I hope they get a ton of subscribers since they spent upwards of $20 million!

#2 – Amazon Alexa

Nothing gets me more than a great laugh, and this one made me lol the whole time. The commercial suggests that perhaps an Alexa could have any vessel, even that of Creed actor, Michael B. Jordan. “Alexa, turn on the sprinklers.” I am ordering mine as we speak!

#1 – Jeep

I might be bias, since I drive a Wrangler and I’m from Jersey, but I just loved everything about this commercial. Who better to connect us then the boss himself, Bruce Springsteen, who rarely does commercials? Jeep has pitched Bruce every year for the last 10 years, but this year’s plan piqued his interest and he got on board. In a time where American’s feel more divided than ever, Bruce encourages us to find common ground. The commercial features a chapel, located directly in the middle of the country that is always open and welcomes everyone with open arms. “As for freedom it is not the property of just a fortunate few, it belongs to us all. Whoever you are, wherever you’re from, it’s what connects us, and we need that connection. We need the middle. We just have to remember the very soil we stand on is common ground. So, we can get there.”

There you have it – my top five favorite brands who absolutely knocked it out of the ballpark… oops wrong sport. I mean the top five brands whose commercials were worthy of an epic end zone dance. Now start saving up for your 2022 Super Bowl commercial spots!
